Teako & Josie at Sparkys

Our Story

In the works for more than 20 years, Sparky’s was born from one couples combined dream. Josie Nunn’s love of design and handcrafted coffee, and her husband, Teako’s desire  to make exceptional wood-fired barbeque and made from scratch, green chile cheeseburgers.

In 2008 Sparky’s was born! Josie had her opportunity to make a beautiful and whimsical restaurant-(complete with a 10 foot A&W Root Beer Mama on the roof and a gigantic old moose head mounted on the dining room wall)-which serves “over the top” coffee— which is even roasted locally by Ocotillo Roasters of  Las Cruces-especially for them.

Teako started his barbeque lessons on an old ammonia tank converted into a smoker over 20 years ago. Practicing all the time-becoming a certified Kansas City Barbeque Society BBQ Judge, and finally taking a whirwind barbeque tour through nine World Famous BBQ Joints in and around the hills of Austin Texas-he was ready to go out on his own.

His Family has been serving West Texas Handcrafted Burgers since 1972. Living in Hatch,New Mexico,  the Chile Capitol of the World—adding fresh green chile was a natural.
